1881 & 1911: Station Fires

Galesburg’s grand stations are twice lost to fire, leading to new, iconic rebuilds.


1887: AT&SF & Purington Pavers

The AT&SF line opens; Galesburg’s bricks are shipped worldwide.


1974: Railroad Days Begins

BNSF opens rail yards to the public, starting the annual celebration.


1984: New Station Opens

The current Galesburg station is built, blending modern design with historical elements.

In the late 1800s, Galesburg shipped so many bricks by rail that Purington Pavers were used on streets as far away as India and Paris!
